Our History…

"Rolling in Tobago" had a two-part goal: to offer a one-of-a-kind experience to traveling Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, allowing them to immerse themselves in the art of Jiu-Jitsu while exploring the breathtaking beauty of Tobago. In 2023, Joe brought this dream to life, organizing the first ever Jiu-Jitsu retreat to be hosted in Tobago that left a lasting impression on all who attended.

From May 16th to May 21st, 2023, Tobago became a gathering place for this inaugural event, welcoming 40 passionate Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from various corners of the globe. Joe, fueled by his passion for Jiu-Jitsu and his love for the island, orchestrated an event that would exceed expectations.

Joe partnered with the talented and experienced Jordan Preisinger of Limitless Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Trenton, Ontario and together, they curated a program that not only provided world-class training but captured the essence of Tobago's allure. The participants were in for a remarkable treat, as they were about to embark on a journey that combined intensive Jiu-Jitsu training with captivating excursions, allowing them to explore the island's natural wonders.

The training sessions were nothing short of exceptional. Renowned instructors, including Jordan Preisinger, Jedi Does Jiu-Jitsu and Tyler Spangler, delivered high-level instruction, sharing their expertise, techniques, and insights. The participants had the opportunity to refine their skills, learn new strategies, and deepen their understanding of Jiu-Jitsu, all within a supportive and inspiring environment.

However, "Rolling in Tobago" was not solely focused on training. Joe went the extra mile to showcase the island's beauty, culture, and traditions. The participants were treated to carefully curated excursions that revealed Tobago's natural wonders and hidden gems. From glass bottom boat tours in crystal-clear waters to exploring lush rainforests, each adventure brought new perspectives and unforgettable memories.

As the sun set on the inaugural event, "Rolling in Tobago" has set the stage for what will become an annual tradition. The participants left Tobago not only with improved Jiu-Jitsu skills but also with a deep appreciation for the island's charm and the bonds formed during their time there. Joe successfully achieved his goal of providing an unparalleled experience that combined world-class training with the exploration of Tobago's beauty.

Rolling in Tobago and their dedicated team now look forward to the future, eagerly planning and preparing for future retreats, set to take place annually on Tobago, also known as the hidden gem of the Caribbean. These upcoming events promise to build upon the success of the inaugural camp, continuing to deliver an extraordinary blend of top-notch training and awe-inspiring excursions that will leave a lasting impression on every participant fortunate enough to be part of this incredible journey.

Our Organizer…

Joe Moses Rolling in Tobago

JOE MOSES

Born and raised in Trinidad, Joe has been training Jiu-Jitsu for over a decade both in the US and on the island. He was among some of the first guys to introduce the sport to the island. After a brief stint living and training in Houston, Texas, he got to experience what the lifestyle was about: world class training and being part of a community that has quick progression and opportunities. Upon returning home to Trinidad, his aim was to build the sport for the future generation of practitioners to have similar opportunities that international athletes get to enjoy. He has taken up various projects through his Open Mat TT project, a non-profit organization, with the goal of bringing the local gyms together to share knowledge, allowing the younger generation the opportunity of faster progression than the practitioners before them. Rolling in Tobago was born from this same vision to offer something new to Trinidad and Tobago by attracting foreign practitioners to continue growth with the help of outside influence. And in return, he is excited to showcase the beauty of the island to the foreign community.
